Fenerbahce summon Osayi-Samuel's agent to Istanbul for contract talks amid links with Norwich City
Published: October 18, 2024
Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce have reportedly summoned Bright Osayi-Samuel's agent to Turkey amid speculation linking the defender with a transfer to Championship outfit Norwich City.
The former Queens Park Rangers dazzler is being linked with a return to the Championship, with the Canaries credited with an interest.
According to multiple reports in the Turkish media, including NTVSpor, Fenerbahce have invited the agents of İrfan Can Kahveci and Bright Osayi-Samuel to Istanbul for contract negotiations.
Osayi-Samuel has roughly eight months left on his contract with the Yellow Canaries and will be available on a free transfer as things stand, meaning he can agree a lucrative pre-contract with a club as from the January transfer window.
Fenerbahce have set the ball rolling to tie him up to a new contract and have scheduled a meeting with his agent, Steven Beck in Istanbul next week.
It has been suggested that the Nigeria national team is open to extending his stay at the 19-time Turkish Super Lig champions but the stumbling block to a deal is his wage demands.
Osayi-Samuel has requested that his annual wages be increased to 2.5 million euros, while Fenerbahçe have proposed 1.5 million euros instead.
With 145 appearances under his belt, the 26-year-old is nearing a milestone of 150 games for Fenerbahçe, whom he joined from Queens Park Rangers in January 2021.
