Ahmed Musa scores and provides assist, wins 2 penalties for Kano Pillars in 7-goal thriller v Rangers
Published: October 16, 2024In a captivating showdown, Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa showcased his exceptional talent as Kano Pillars triumphed over Enugu Rangers with a thrilling 4-3 victory in a Nigeria Premier Football League clash on Wednesday.Â
Musa played a pivotal role, influencing all four goals for the Sai Masu Gida during the match held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
The excitement kicked off early in the 15th minute when Musa was fouled in the penalty area, earning a spot-kick for his team.
Rabiu Ali stepped up to convert the penalty, giving Kano Pillars a 1-0 lead.
Just over a quarter of an hour later, in the 28th minute, Musa provided a perfect assist to Zulkifilu Rabiu, who doubled the advantage for the visitors.
Musa's impact was undeniable as he was brought down once again in the box, leading to a second penalty in the 37th minute.
Rabiu Ali calmly converted, extending the lead to 3-0. The Super Eagles captain then capped off a remarkable first half by scoring the fourth goal himself just before halftime.
Musa displayed finesse as he maneuvered past the Rangers’ goalkeeper, finishing into an empty net to give Kano Pillars a commanding 4-0 lead at the break.
However, the second half saw a resurgence from Enugu Rangers, spearheaded by substitute Isaac Saviour.
Just two minutes into the half, Saviour found the back of the net, beating Kano Pillars' goalkeeper Ibrahim Iddrisu to reduce the deficit.
The 22-year-old struck again in the 59th minute, making it 4-2 with another well-placed shot.
As the match approached its conclusion, Emmanuel Silas added a third goal for Enugu Rangers in the 90th minute, igniting hopes of a dramatic comeback.
Despite Rangers' spirited efforts to equalize, Kano Pillars managed to hold on to their narrow victory.
With this win, Kano Pillars now sit fourth on the Nigerian Premier Football League table, tied on ten points with fifth-placed Enugu Rangers.
Ahmed Musa has made a notable impact since his return to the league, netting two goals and providing crucial assists.
