Galatasaray striker Osimhen leading the race to win Turkish Super Lig Goal of the Week
Published: October 01, 2024Victor Osimhen's second goal for Galatasaray in their 3-3 enthralling draw with Kasımpaşa has been nominated for the beIN SPORTS Süper Lig matchday seven Goal of the Week.
In the 28th minute of the encounter, the Super Eagles forward received a brilliant pass from Gabriel Sara, controlled the ball perfectly and venomously fired it over the goalkeeper to give Galatasaray a two-goal cushion in the game.
He also opened the scoring with an instinctive finish in the 20th minute of the game and was denied the opportunity of getting a hat-trick as he was taken off at the start of the second half to avoid picking up a serious injury.
His strike against Kasımpaşa is up against Edin Visca's 16th-minute goal from outside of the penalty area for Trabzonspor in the 3-2 win over Konyaspor and Andreaw Gravillon’s curled long-range effort for Adana Demirspor in their clash with Sipay Bodrum FK.
The last goal in contention is Taulant Seferi's powerful strike from outside in the penalty area to net Bodrum's second goal in the 3-1 win over Adana Demirspor.
As at the time of this report, Osimhen is in pole position to win this award, as he has accumulated 69.61% of the votes cast, which is head and shoulders above Visca's who has the second highest number of votes.
The 25-year-old has had a dream start to life with Galatasaray, registering four goal involvements in his first three games in the Süper Lig to become the first player to record as much as that for the Lions in the Turkish top flight in seven years.
