Osimhen namechecks Drogba, two Super Eagles stars as he speaks on his transfer to Galatasaray
Published: October 01, 2024Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has provided insights into his move to Galatasaray, referencing Didier Drogba and two fellow Super Eagles players while discussing his knowledge about Istanbul.
Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli after a tumultuous summer filled with interest from several top clubs, including PSG, Chelsea, and Al-Ahli.
Since making the move, he has made an immediate impact by scoring two goals and providing three assists in just four games across all competitions.
In an interview with the club's YouTube channel via NTVSpor, the Nigerian striker discussed his experiences of the city, highlighting the influence of Didier Drogba and two fellow Super Eagles players.
“To be honest, there were a lot of players I idolized and followed since I was little,” Osimhen revealed.
"Drogba is one of them. Onyekuru and Etebo played here before, I knew the atmosphere was good, I saw it.
"I actually looked online but what I saw in reality was much more magnificent, what I saw here was great."
"It's magnificent, what I saw here was great. I'm not saying it because I'm a Galatasaray player and I played here, but when I look at it objectively."
Osimhen also praised the fans for their significant role in the city's vibrant atmosphere and emphasized the strong bond among the players and the club.
"I'm not saying this because I'm a Galatasaray player and I played here, but when I look at it objectively, the fans make this place incredible.
"I've always said this and I'll continue to say it, the fans are very passionate and this place is a very big family.
"It's really incredible that this place has become an incredibly big club thanks to the fans."
With Osimhen's impressive start at Galatasaray, fans are hopeful he will continue to shine and contribute to the team's success in the Turkish league.
