Confirmed: Arsenal offer new deal to Flying Eagles-eligible goalkeeper
Published: June 05, 2024As reported by the official website of the Premier League, Arsenal have offered Flying Eagles-eligible goalkeeper Brian Okonkwo a professional contract.
The 18-year-old joined the north London side at the age of 10 and has progressed through to the ranks to feature for the U18s and the development side respectively.
He was offered a scholarship deal in 2022 and made his U18 Premier League debut in January 2023, featuring in the seven-goal thriller against Norwich City.
The Anglo-Nigerian shot- stopper made his first appearance for the development side in the Premier League 2 last season, featuring against Aston Villa at Meadow Park in April.
Okonkwo had a one-game loan spell with Hitchin Town FC and has gone on to make two more loan spells with Leatherhead and Cheshunt FC.
Okonkwo will be hoping to continue his progression next season, possibly taking advantage of the departure of fellow Nigerian goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheri to feature more for the development squad.
His brother Arthur is set to leave Arsenal upon the expiration of his contract at the end of this month without making any appearance for the first team.
