Trabzonspor make improved offer to sign Onuachu from Premier League new boys Southampton
Published: May 26, 2024Trabzonspor are plotting a new plan to retain the services of Paul Onuachu beyond the summer.
According to Fanatik, the Turkish side have made a new offer to sign the Super Eagles forward and are ready to pay a higher loan fee than the €1.5m they paid to Southampton last summer for his signature.
With the €15m price tag set by the Premier League newcomers for the Nigerian forward proving costly for the Black Sea Storm, they plan on exploring another loan deal for him.
Trabzonspor also want to use the good relationship between them and the Southampton owners Sport Republic, who are also the majority owners of fellow Turkish side Göztepe, to fashion out a deal.
In a bid to sign Onuachu last summer, the Turkish giants released Taha Altıkardeş to Göztepe for free and there is a likelihood of them offering another player yet again.
It is not surprising to see Abdullah Avcı's side trying to retain Onuachu beyond this season as the lanky striker has been in great form since joining them last summer.
The 29-year-old is averaging close to one goal contribution per game for Trabzonspor having scored 15 goals and providing four assists in 21 games across all competitions.
