Transfer guru rules out possibility of 2021 Super Eagles invitee making a return to Chelsea this summer

Transfer expert David Ornstein has ruled out the possibility of 2021 Super Eagles invitee Michael Olise making a return to Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Olise is a product of Chelsea, spending seven years at the Cobham academy before he was released as a schoolboy.

The Stamford Bridge outfit made a strong attempt to sign the Crystal Palace star last summer and despite reportedly agreeing personal terms with him, he eventually signed a contract extension with the Eagles.

Despite inking a new deal less than a year ago, the 22-year-old is likely to leave Selhurst Park during the next transfer window with Manchester United, Arsenal and Juventus being linked with him.

There have also been reports that Chelsea will also be in the running for his signature but that appears to have been thrown in the bin by Ornstein.

During his weekly Q&A for The Athletic (subscription required), the transfer expert dismissed the report that the two-time European champions will make a move for the France youth international.

"I think that ship has probably sailed after what happened last summer, Jonny. If Olise leaves Crystal Palace in the upcoming window, I expect it would only be for one of the small number of most prominent Champions League clubs.

"He is said to be an intelligent and thoughtful player who knows exactly what level he can reach and will be clear in deciding if, where and when it is right for him to move."

"Like with his previous contract, there is thought to be a release clause in the fresh terms he signed after the Chelsea saga.

"So clubs will have a decent idea of what they need to do to get him. To my knowledge, there have been no meaningful developments so far but obviously there's a good chance that changes in the coming weeks and months.

"As for Chelsea, they appear to be quite well-stocked in Olise's position so I suspect they will be focusing elsewhere."

With Anglo-Nigerian forward Noni Madueke, Premier League joint top-scorer Cole Palmer, Ângelo Gabriel, the Blues are well stuck in the right side of the attack which is where Olise primarily operates.

Regardless of the status of Mauricio Pochettino's side interest in the French youth international, there is no doubt that he is primed for a big move in the summer.
