Quad-national midfielder now eligible to be added to Arsenal's Champions League squad

Promising midfielder of Nigerian descent Zac Shuaib is now eligible to represent Premier League giants Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League.

Apart from Nigeria, Shuaib qualifies to play international football for England, Spain and India through his mother.

Arsenal youth team insider Jeorge Bird has reported that Zac Shuaib is now eligible to be added to Arsenal’s Champions League squad via the List B as he has been at the club for two years.

The 17-year-old joined Arsenal's Hale End Academy just before his fifteenth birthday and signed a scholarship with the north London club a year later.

For the 2023-2024 season, a player may be registered on List B if he is born on, or after, 1 January 2002 and has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years since his 15th birthday (players aged 16 may be submitted if they have been registered with the club for the previous two years).

Shuaib is a midfielder capable of playing offensively and defensively and has a good range of passing.

This season, he has played in six matches across all competitions for Arsenal U18s comprising four in the U18 Premier League and two in the Premier League Cup.

Last month following the closure of the winter transfer market, four academy players of Nigerian descent were included in Arsenal's Champions League squad (Player List B), namely 2023 Flying Eagles invitee Ovie Ejeheri, Ethan Nwaneri, Timi Davies and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji.
