The boy is a bit special: Obi-Martin scores four goals as Arsenal U18s beat Crystal Palace 8-3
Published: March 16, 2024Denmark U17 international of Nigerian descent Chidozie Obi-Martin enhanced his burgeoning reputation with another superb performance as Arsenal defeated Crystal Palace 8-3 in an U18 Premier League clash staged at Sobha Realty Training Centre on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners were on a three-game winless run before the London derby but the Danish-Nigerian center forward helped them snap their poor form with a Man of the Match performance.
Arsenal were 2-0 up inside ten minutes after early goals from Osman Kamara and Harrison Dudziak.
The lead was increased in the eighteenth minute when Obi-Martin receives a beautiful through-ball from Rosiak, then calmly finished by slotting home.
Derry pulled one back for the Eagles at minute 26 but Obi-Martin restored Arsenal's three-goal advantage six minutes before the interval when he curled in a stunning effort from approximately 20 yards out.
After Benjamin Casey scored to make it 4-2, the Danish-Nigerian wonderkid extended Arsenal's lead to three goals once again, firing home from the penalty spot after a trip in the area in the 51st minute.
Obi-Martin netted his fourth of the afternoon in the 89th minute off a brilliant assist from super-sub Theo Julienne.
Arsenal's other scorers in the second half were Osman Kamara and Julienne, while Crystal Palace's Derry got his brace from the spot in the 63rd minute.
With eight goals in ten appearances, Obi-Martin, who has already signed a pre-scholarship deal ahead of the 2024-2025 season, is Arsenal U18s leading scorer in the league.
