Luton Town CB Osho has a valid Nigerian passport but remains doubtful to make Super Eagles debut
Published: March 13, 2024
Allnigeriasoccer.com has been told that there's no green light yet from Luton Town central defender Gabriel Osho on his participation at the Super Eagles training camp in Marrakesh next week.
The former Reading development squad skipper has been named on a 27-man roster for Nigeria's March internationals against West African rivals Ghana and Mali, but has suffered a bit of misfortune.
On the same day the squad was unveiled by the Nigeria Football Federation, Osho suffered a relapse of a knee injury during the Hatters 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace and was replaced with around ten minutes left.
The 25-year-old has a valid Nigerian passport, which would pave the way for him to make his Super Eagles debut if granted permission by Luton Town's medical team to travel to Africa next week.
Osho is not entirely new to the Nigeria set-up as he was invited to train with the Golden Eaglets in Abuja before the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup but was still learning the ropes then, so didn't make the grade.
He would be really frustrated if he failed to recover in time for the friendlies against the Black Stars and Mali's Eagles as playing for Nigeria was his first choice from the word go despite being eligible for England.
Osho is the tenth multinational player in Nigeria's 27-man squad who has opted to represent Nigeria instead of other European countries.
The list includes Bright Osayi-Samuel, Tyronne Ebuehi, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Nathan Tella, Ademola Lookman, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Cyriel Dessers
