Confirmed: Date and venue of Super Falcons' blockbuster 2024 Olympic qualifier against Bayana Bayana
Published: March 11, 2024
The dates for the Super Falcons' two-legged tie with South Africa in the final qualifying round for the 2024 Summer Olympics, alternatively known as Paris 2024, have been confirmed by the Confederation of African Football.
The first leg of the tie is set to take place at MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on April 5 while the second leg will be staged on April 9 in South Africa in a yet-to-be-decided venue.
Randy Waldrum's ladies qualified for the final qualification round having defeated Cameroon by a solitary goal on aggregate while South Africa breezed past Tanzania with a 4-0 aggregate scoreline.
The Super Falcons have failed to qualify for the Olympics on the last three occasions having featured in the previous three editions of the tournament.
They will be seeking to end that run by beating the South African ladies to one of the two tickets meant for the Confederation of African Football.
The Super Falcons and the Banyana Banyana are no strangers to each other, having met on nine previous occasions with both sides sharing three wins apiece while the other encounters ended in a draw.
