Super Eagles team news: Nigeria sweat on fitness of Osimhen as star striker is left behind in Abidjan

Nigeria are sweating on the fitness of star striker Victor Osimhen ahead of the semifinal clash with South Africa in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year is suffering from an abdominal pain which has now made him doubtful for the clash against Bafana Bafana.
Osimhen is one of the few players to have started all games for the Super Eagles since the start of the tournament.
While the 25-year-old is yet to score in the last four games, he has never failed to make his presence felt by the opposition defense and remains one of the vital players in attack.
The Napoli superstar was left behind in Abidjan as other members traveled to Bouaké which is the venue of the game against Bafana Bafana and has been placed under close medical watch.
However, all hope is not lost as he could join the members of the squad if declared fit by tomorrow morning.
In Osimhen fails a fitness test, José Peseiro might have to field one of Paul Onuachu, Kelechi Iheanacho, or Terem Moffi to lead the attack.
Osimhen was stretchered off the pitch in the closing minutes of Nigeria's 1-0 win over Angola in the quarterfinals of the AFCON and did not take part in the team's recovery workout on Sunday.
