Nigeria booked their ticket to the knockout rounds of the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations following a narrow 1-0 win over Guinea-Bissau in their final Group A game on Monday evening at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan.
Jose Peseiro's team moved through to the round of 16 thanks to an own goal from Opa Sanganté who blasted the ball into his own net as he tried to defend a cross from Moses Simon in the 36th minute.
Allnigeriasoccer.com looks at the key statistics from the win against the Wild Dogs.
With a game high four fouls committed, West Brom star Semi Ajayi was the dirtiest player on the pitch. The Super Eagles number 6 was yellow carded just before half time.
There was a three-way tie for the top tackler with Calvin Bassey, Kenneth Omeruo and Guinea-Bissau's Janio Bikel registering four each.
Victor Osimhen's aerial prowess was on display but it counted for nothing with none of the seven headers he won ending up in the back of the net.
The Super Eagles number 9 played a game-high four shots, along with Famana Quizera, and was flagged offside the most (4).
When it came to clearances, Omeruo was the top player in that department with six, while his defensive partner Bassey registered the most touches (77).
Ola Aina, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen registered a team-high two key passes each, one less than Portuguese-born midfielder Dálcio.
Carlos Gomes completed a game-high two take-ons. Osimhen, Chukwueze, Osayi-Samuel, Simon, Aribo, Bassey and Onyedika registered one each.
Frank Onyeka won a team-high five fouls, two less than the most fouled player on parade, Dálcio, while Onyeka, Simon and Edgar Ié were the top interceptors with two each.
