Super Eagles star Terem Moffi has revealed the Nigerian, African and European players that inspired him while he was growing up and his choices were all attack-minded players during their playing days.
The OGC Nice star is in contention to make his Africa Cup of Nations debut after he was added to the final Super Eagles squad at the last minute following the withdrawal of Victor Boniface who pulled out of the squad due to a groin injury he suffered during the Nigeria training camp in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Moffi has confessed that he was a Chelsea fan back in the day and admitted that Blues and Ivory Coast legend Didier Drogba and Arsenal icon Robin van Persie were the players that inspired him growing up as a footballer in Nigeria.
The former Lorient man comes from a footballing family as his father Leo Moffi played for Enugu Rangers.
Speaking to Nigerian journalist Wale Quadry, Moffi said: "In Europe, I was a Chelsea fan so Didier Drogba. I loved Robin van Persie too ironically. There were lot of strikers who were of top, top quality, I watched them."
As a child, Moffi was also inspired by Nigeria legends and former Premier League stars Nwankwo Kanu, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha and Obafemi Martins.
"I watched them play like got some traits of them, how they play, what they do, and that affected my game.
"When you get bits from top players it helps your game and you understand the game even better.
"Growing up I watched Obafemi Martins, Jay-Jay Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu, you watch these Nigerian legends of the game," he added.
In fourteen appearances for the Super Eagles, Moffi has scored four goals including two in AFCON qualifying.
