Chelsea alum sends cute message to Nigeria's Super Eagles ahead of AFCON opener v Equatorial Guinea
Published: January 14, 2024
Onetime Chelsea's longest-serving player on a first team contract, Victor Moses has sent a cute message to the Super Eagles ahead of their highly anticipated 2023 Africa Cup of Nations opening match against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday at 1500 hours.
Moses has fond memories of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2013 staged in South Africa as he was a key member of the Nigeria side that won the tournament for a third time.
After recovering from the hamstring injury that kept him on the bench in Nigeria's opening game against Burkina Faso, Moses was named in the starting lineup for the next five matches.
Moses scored a brace against Ethiopia while providing assists in wins against Mali and Burkina Faso.
The Spartak Moscow midfielder was named in the AFCON Team of the Tournament and picked up the Fair Player of the Tournament award.
Moses has sent a good luck message to the Super Eagles and he's backing the team coached by Jose Peseiro to win the 2023 AFCON.
Writing on X (formerly Twitter), Moses said: "Good luck to the guys for the AFCON! I have amazing memories from previous tournaments and I know you can create more history this year. We are all behind you!"
