EA Sports FC TOTY: Super Falcons GK Nnadozie, AFCON-bound Super Eagles striker Osimhen nominated
Published: January 09, 2024
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen and Super Falcons goalkeeper Chidozie Nnadozie have been nominated for the prestigious EA Sports FC Men's and Women's Team of the Year.
Victor Osimhen, a key figure in Napoli's Scudetto triumph in 2023, finds himself in the company of 26 other top forwards in Europe.
The Super Eagles striker will be competing against football legends like Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo, plus Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, and other top strikers in the male category.
Despite the intense competition, Osimhen's stellar contributions to Napoli's success have earned him a well-deserved spot in the nomination.
Currently in camp with the Super Eagles, Osimhen is gearing up for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast.
With injuries sidelining Taiwo Awoniyi and Victor Boniface of Bayern Leverkusen, Osimhen is anticipated to lead Nigeria's attack at the prestigious competition.
On the women's front, Chiamaka Nnadozie, the talented goalkeeper of the Super Falcons, is set to compete against four goalkeepers in the female category.
The Paris FC shot-stopper faces stiff competition from Christiane Endler (Olympique Lyonnais), Mary Earps (Manchester United), Merle Frohms (VfL Wolfsburg), and Jane Campbell (Houston Dash).
Nnadozie earned her place on the list following her stellar performance during the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
The Super Falcons progressed to the Round of 16 without losing a game in regulation time, and Nnadozie's goalkeeping prowess played a significant role in the team's success.
The final EA Sports FC Team of the Year XIs will be unveiled shortly after the voting concludes.
