Nigeria rocked by withdrawal of Victor Boniface from Super Eagles' Africa Cup of Nations squad

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Nigeria manager Jose Peseiro has been rocked by the withdrawal of Victor Boniface from the Super Eagles' Africa Cup of Nations squad.
After Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi who was named in the provisional squad only to pull out due to a muscular injury, Boniface is the second player that will not be heading to the Africa Cup of Nations due to injury.
It is believed that the Bayer Leverkusen striker has suffered a muscle injury that could see him sidelined for at least one month.
Boniface was expected to play a prominent role for the Super Eagles at the AFCON as he had been earmarked as Victor Osimhen's strike partner in Jose Peseiro's preferred 4-4-2 formation.
In the light of the injury suffered by Boniface, it remains to be seen if the Nigeria Football Federation will draft in a replacement for the former Royale Union Saint-Gilloise man.
Apart from Ndidi and Boniface who have pulled out of the squad, a third player in Kelechi Iheanacho is racing against the clock to be fit for the Super Eagles' opening game against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, January 14.
Boniface has been in sensational form this season, registering twenty-four goal involvements in 23 appearances across all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen.
On the back of his imperious displays for the Bundesliga table toppers, he was handed his first call-up for an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against São Tomé and Príncipe back in September.
