The Super Eagles lost 2-0 to Guinea on Monday afternoon in their last friendly game before the start of AFCON.
José Peseiro rang several changes to the team that started against the Al Gharbia yesterday which included Stanley Nwabili coming in for Francis Uzoho, and Alhassan Yusuf getting a chance to play in the midfield.
Nigeria started on the right note with early chances coming the way of Samuel Chukwueze, Chidozie Awaziem, and Moses Simon but they couldn't make it count.
The Super Eagles were made to ruin their chances as Guinea took the lead in the 15th minute through Atromitos F.C. midfielder Aguibou Camara.
In the 20th minute, Simon had the chance to level the scoreline from the penalty spot but was denied by the Guinean goalkeeper.
Seven minutes later, Sadiq Umar got another chance to score for the three-time African champions but could only power his header over the crossbar.
Another opportunity came Chukwueze way in the 42nd minute but the AC Milan winger couldn't hit the target and that saw the Syli National take the lead into halftime.
The second half started the way the first ended with chances coming the way of the Super Eagles but they couldn't bury any in the back of the net.
It was Guinea who bagged the second goal of the encounter in the 64th minute of the encounter through Bastia striker Facinet Conte.
Peseiro made his first set of changes in the 73rd minute, with Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, and Frank Onyeka replacing Kenneth Omeruo, Raphael Onyedika, and Awaziem respectively.
Another set of substitutions was made by the Portuguese tactician in the 83rd minute with Joe Aribo, Ahmed Musa, and Ademola Lookman replacing the trio of Yusuf, Chukwueze, and Simon.
Despite the substitutions, Nigeria couldn't change the scoreline as the Guineans held on to their 2-goal advantage.
Peseiro will be hoping the result has no psychological impact on the team when they take on Equatorial Guinea in their first game of the Africa Cup of Nations next Sunday.
