Super Eagles AFCON squad numbers: Iwobi chooses number he wore at Arsenal; Two Chelsea alums retain number

The Super Eagles squad numbers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations have been released with Arsenal's Hale End Academy product Alex Iwobi getting a new number while former Chelsea defenders Kenneth Omeruo and Ola Aina retained the numbers they wore in the 2021 edition of the tournament.
Iwobi is set to wear the number 17 jersey which he wore during his time at Arsenal with Ademola Lookman donning the number 18 jersey he used to put on.
The Fulham midfielder is one of the most experienced players in the squad heading into the tournament and is also undoubtedly one of the vital players for José Peseiro's side.
Semi Ajayi who is the other player in the squad with an Arsenal connection has been given the number 6 jersey which he adorned in his maiden appearance at AFCON.
In the same vein, Omeruo will wear the number 22 jersey which was what he wore in the last edition of the competition.
The center-back is one of the most experienced members of the three-time African champions and is gearing up to make his 4th appearance in the tournament.
Cobham product Aina has also retained the number 2 jersey he wore in the last edition.
