CAF Awards 2023 Women's Categories: Super Falcons stars Oshoala, Nnadozie, Abiodun make final three
Published: December 07, 2023
Three Super Falcons players have made the final shortlist for the CAF Women's Awards.
Paris FC shot-stopper Chiamaka Nnadozie is in contention for the Goalkeeper of the Year alongside Khadija Er-Rmichi and Andile Dlamini.
Nnadozie has been in stellar form for the Super Falcons, particularly shining like a million stars at the FIFA Women's World Cup while her performance for Paris FC has been laudable.
Talented midfielder Deborah Abiodun is to battle Nesryne El Chad of Morocco and Ghanaian fullback Comfort Yeboah for the Young Player of the Year (Women) award.
Abiodun caught the eye at the last World Cup and has continued with that form for the University of Pittsburgh Women's Soccer Team.
Barcelona Femeni forward Asisat Oshoala is in the running to win the CAF Women's Player of the Year for the sixth time.
The 29-year-old played a vital role in Barcelona's triumph last season and became the first African to score in three different editions of the World Cup having netted in Nigeria's win over Australia.
South African forward Thembi Kgatlana and Zambia skipper Barbra Banda are the other two nominees in the category of the award.
The Awards Gala will take place on Monday, 11 December 2023, at the Palais des Congrès, Movenpick, Marrakech, Morocco.
