The Confederation of African Football have informed the twenty-four teams participating in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations that the squad lists for the tournament holding in Ivory Coast must be submitted by January 3, 2024 at the latest, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
It has been decided that each country can name a maximum of twenty-seven players on the roster.
The Nigeria Football Federation can name the usual 23 players on the Super Eagles roster and have been given an option to include four additional players, bringing it to a maximum of 27 players.
For the 2021 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, each team was permitted to name a roster with 28 players due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Nigerian Football Federation must submit a provisional squad containing 55 players to the Confederation of African Football within the next twenty one days, with December 14 set as the deadline.
The kickoff date for the 34th Africa Cup of Nations is January 13, 2024, while the final will take place at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium, Abidjan on February 11.
Three-time African champions Nigeria will trade tackles with hosts Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea in Group A of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
