'Zaidu is available' - Porto coach confirms Super Eagles left-back is in contention for Champions League tie
Published: November 06, 2023
Porto coach Sérgio Conceição addressed the media on Monday ahead of his side's Champions League match against Royal Antwerp at the Estádio do Dragão.
Nigeria international Zaidu Sanusi was the main novelty in Porto's last training session before the matchday four fixture.
Sanusi suffered a muscle injury to his left thigh during the first half of Porto's Champions League opener against Shakhtar Donetsk on September 19, and since then he has not been called up to the Porto team, missing eight games in a row.
There is now light at the end of the tunnel, with Conceição indicating that he left-back is available for selection against Antwerp.
It is all but confirmed that Sanusi will be named in Porto's matchday squad on Tuesday night taking into account that his rival for the left-back role, Wendell is unlikely to feature due to injury.
Providing a fitness update on his squad, Conceição told reporters: "Zaidu is available. The others injured did not. After the game with Vitória we will have a break and then we will be able to recover more players".
In the first fifteen minutes of the training session open to the media, according to DAZN, the Super Eagles star did not some exercises with and without the ball.
Prior to his spell on the sidelines, Sanusi made four appearances for Porto, all of which he started.
