Published: October 31, 2023
Nigeria humiliated Ethiopia 4-0 in the second leg of the 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers played on Tuesday evening at the Moshood Abiola Stadium.
Two changes were made to the team that started the first leg with Rofiat Imuran replacing Nicole Payne and Ifeoma Onumonu coming in for Monday Gift.
Asisat Oshoala had the chance to put Nigeria ahead in the 24th-minute one-on-one with the goalkeeper but couldn't hit the target.
Uchenna Kanu of National Women's Soccer League club Racing Louisville put Nigeria ahead at the stroke of halftime with a finish into the bottom corner after a lofty pass from centre-back, Oluwatosin Demehin.
Atlético Madrid forward Rasheedat Ajibade doubled the advantage for Nigeria in the 50th minute with a calm finish from a precise pass from Oshoala.
The Barcelona Femeni star eventually got her name on the scoresheet with a precise header, eight minutes after the hour mark.
Ajibade wrapped up the scoring in the 72nd minute with another calm finish having combined well with Oshoala.
The result means the Super Falcons are through to the next round of the Olympic Games qualifiers having beaten Ethiopia 5-1 on aggregate.
In the third round, the Super Falcons will face the winner of the match between Cameroon and Uganda.
