The Mambas played the entirety of the second half with ten men after Edmilson Dove was issued a straight red card at minute 38.
Allnigeriasoccer.com presents five talking points in the Super Eagles' victory over the Mambas of Mozambique.
1. Super Eagles end winless run in friendly games
With the victory over Mozambique, the Super Eagles halted a winless run in friendly games.
Nigeria, before the clash against Mozambique, were without a win in their last fifteen friendly games, dating back to March 26, 2019.
2. Three goals conceded from free-kicks in two games
The defensive problems of the Eagles is a cause for concern ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Nigeria conceded four goals in the last two friendly games, with three from free-kicks.
3. Fisayo-Dele-Bashiru bags assist on his debut
Dele-Bashiru was handed his debut against Mozambique. The Manchester City academy product showed flashes of his talent and provided the assist for Nigeria's second goal netted by Frank Onyeka.
The 22-year-old was substituted on the hour mark, with Ademola Lookman taking his position.
4. Frank Onyeka, Terem Moffi step into the shoes of Wilfred Ndidi, Victor Osimhen respectively
The Brentford star marshaled the Super Eagles midfield in the absence of Wilfred Ndidi.
Onyeka crowned his performance against Mozambique by scoring his first international goal in the 30th minute.
Meanwhile, Terem Moffi impressed in the Super Eagles attack, scoring the equalizer after the Mambas took the lead inside seven minutes.
5. Peseiro still experimenting
The Portuguese manager, ahead of the AFCON, wanted to run the rule over several players, a decision that saw him field an experimental XI and bench some of his key players.
His decision showed Nigeria have quality in-depth, scoring three goals despite the absence of Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi and Kelechi Iheanacho.
