'There has been a little extra attention' - Chelsea target Nusa ahead of potential cap-tying game for Norway
Published: October 15, 2023
Club Brugge forward Antonio Nusa has hogged the headlines for the past few weeks on the back of his outstanding performances for club and country.
The Norway international was heavily courted by Chelsea in the hours leading up to the close of the summer transfer window but the Blues saw a bid of 30 million euros rejected by Club Brugge.
Chelsea still retain an interest in Nusa and will keep monitoring the exciting winger ahead of the reopening of the transfer window.
Despite struggling with a back injury over the last few weeks, Norway national team coach Ståle Solbakken handed him a call-up for the 2024 European Championship qualifiers against Cyprus and Spain.
The 18-year-old made an impact after coming off the bench against Cyprus to provide an assist for the third goal of the game scored by Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.
With three games under his belt for Norway's national team, Nusa will become cap-tied to his country of birth if he takes part in Sunday's match against Spain at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo.
"It's a boy's dream. This is what I have worked for since I was a child. Being on the national team is what everyone wants," Nusa told VG.
He added: "There has been a little extra attention, but that is normal. I feel that I have coped well.
"For me there is no problem. I'm just trying to learn from the games I've played."
Nusa shares the same agent as Super Eagles strikers Odion Ighalo, Victor Boniface, Chidera Ejuke and Aaron Samuel.
