Peseiro admits he doesn't know if Adeleye is available for selection as Israeli-based GK links up with squad
Published: October 13, 2023
Jose Peseiro has admitted that he doesn't know if Hapoel Jerusalem goalkeeper Adebayo Adeleye will be available for selection in today's international friendly against Saudi Arabia.
The Super Eagles goalkeeper coaches worked with Omonia Nicosia's Francis Uzoho and Udinese's Maduka Okoye in the team's final workout on Thursday,.
Peserio said at the pre-match press conference that he expected Adeleye to show up in camp latest on Friday.
The Portuguese football tactician now has twenty five players at his disposal for the friendly against Saudi Arabia, with Adeleye the latest player to link up with the squad in Portugal.
Adeleye had been help up in the Israeli capital for reasons everyone is aware of, while a second goalkeeper, Olorunleke Ojo is still being expected.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference on Thursday, Peseiro said: "Some problems happened about (Ojo's) visa and the bad situation Adeleye has in this moment but I think he'll arrive tomorrow or today.
"I don't know if he's available for the match, that's why we called Maduka Okoye. Ojo will arrive tomorrow also.
"We have now Uzoho and Maduka. If they join they will work with us and we can check more of the players. "
Adeleye made his international debut in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone and was a non-playing substitute against São Tomé and Príncipe last month.
