Super Falcons team news: Ayinde and Ohale involved in final training pre-Republic of Ireland
Published: July 30, 2023
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Nigeria have been handed a double injury boost ahead of their final group game of the 2023 Fifa Women's World Cup against the Republic of Ireland on Monday, July 31.
On Sunday, Randy Waldrum's side trained for the last time before they step out on to the Lang Park, Brisbane turf to face The Girls in Green.
Although the training session was a closed door affair, the American football tactician and Nigeria Football Federation allowed the media to feast their eyes on the players for the first fifteen minutes.
Deportivo Alavés Gloriosas central defender Osinachi Ohale and FC Rosengård midfielder Halimatu Ayinde participated in the jogging and warm-up exercises without any issues, which puts them in contention to be involved in some capacity against the Republic of Ireland.
Against Australia on Thursday, Ohale got hurt in the process of scoring a crucial second goal for the Super Falcons and required treatment before getting back into the thick of action.
As for Ayinde, she limped off the pitch in the 76th minute of the win against Australia and it had been feared that she suffered an ankle injury, but there is nothing to worry about as she was in good spirits in the final training session today.
While the Republic of Ireland are only playing for pride as they are already eliminated from the Women's World Cup, Nigeria need just a point to guarantee qualification to the round of 16.
