Chelsea old boy Moses shows he's still got it with second half brace for Spartak Moscow

Spartak Moscow stepped up their preparations for the new Russian Premier League season with a friendly against city rivals Torpedo Moscow at the Luzhniki Stadium on Wednesday.

In the pre-season friendly which was held behind closed doors, Victor Moses, a Premier League winner with Chelsea in the 2016-2017 season, was the standout performer with a second half brace for the Red and Whites.

Torpedo Moscow established a two-goal lead at the interval thanks to efforts from Irakly Manelov and Alexander Orekhov.

Off the bench for the start of the second half, Moses halved the deficit on the hour mark with a shot from the penalty area and salvaged a draw right at the death when he slotted home from distance.

The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner has appeared in 65 official matches for Spartak Moscow since joining them in 2020, first on loan before sealing a permanent transfer in the summer of 2021, which ended a nine-year association with Chelsea.

With one-year left on his contract with the Muscovites, speculation is rife that the 32-year-old could be moving on to pastures new before the close of the summer transfer window.

Spartak Moscow will play their next friendly match at their base in Tarasovka against Akron on July 8.
