2023 Fifa U20 World Cup: Three Flying Eagles players to watch out for against South Korea
Published: June 04, 2023
The Flying Eagles will be hoping to reach the semifinals of the FIFA U-20 World Cup for the first time since 2005 when they face the Taegeuk Warriors of South Korea later today.
Below are three Nigeria players to watch out for this evening:
1. Abel Ogwuche: The centre-back has played all minutes in this competition and has been the best defender in the team.
He is good in the air, aggressive but not careless with his tackles(one yellow card all competition) and dominates attackers with his physical prowess.
The South Koreans must be hoping he has a bad day in office to have a chance to break down a stubborn Nigerian side.
2. Daniel Daga: The midfielder has been Nigeria's best player in the competition and coach Ladan Bosso will be hoping to count on his brilliance once again today.
He reads the game intelligently, is strong in his tackles, passes the ball with accuracy and is well-disciplined having received just one yellow card in the competition
It is no surprise that he is being linked with a move to teams in the top five leagues in Europe.
3. Haliru Sarki: He is Nigeria's wildcard and super substitute.
Sarki has been effective off the bench with his blistering pace and flair which has caused opposition defences a lot of problems so far.
He got his first goal of the competition against Argentina and will be brimming with a lot of confidence heading into this game.
