Nigeria got off to a winning start at the FIFA U20 World Cup having defeated Dominican Republic 2- 1 at the Estadio Malvinas Argentina despite conceding first in the game.
Allnigeriasoccer.com rates the Nigerian players in action in Mendoza.
The Starters
Goalkeeper
Chijioke Aniagboso: Apart from the penalty, he was largely untested as the Dominicans offered little offensively. He made a good save to deny Edison Azcona late in the game 6/10
Daniel Bameyi: The skipper was solid as always, always at the right place to snuff out danger but we need to see more of him offensively. 6.5/10
Benjamin Fredrick:He was unlucky to have conceded the penalty that led to the Dominican's only goal but that didn't affect his confidence as he did well with all that was thrown at him comfortably. 5.5/10
Abel Ogwuche: He was calm and composed in his duties and made sure Anyelo Gómez, the Dominican centre forward was kept quiet all day. 7/10
Solomon Agblaka: He picked up where he left off at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations. He was solid defensively and combined well with Jude Sunday.7/10
Midfielders and strikers
Daniel Daga: He was vibrant and proactive in his duties and one of those that ensured that the Flying Eagles dominated the game.7/10
Samson Lawal: He was a constant outlet in the midfield as Nigeria dominated possession throughout the game and showed composure for his goal. 8.5/10
Tochukwu Nnadi: The Botev Plovdiv midfielder was vibrant in the middle of the park and also ensured Ladan Bosso's men dominated their opponents. 7/10
Jude Sunday: In what was his second competitive start for the Flying Eagles, he was electric and was a thorn in the flesh of the Dominican defence. He was very unlucky not to have gotten on the scoresheet. Easily, Nigeria's best player. 9/10
Salim Fago Lawal: He was involved in Nigeria's first goal as his attempt to head the ball caused the blunder for Guillermo de Peña's own goal. Apart from the goal, he wasn't threatening in front of the goal and was duly substituted not long after the second half started. 5.5/10
Ibrahim Beji Muhamed: He was disappointing having shown a lot of promises at AFCON and it was no surprise that he got subbed off. 6/10
The Substitutes
Umeh Emmanuel: He played no substantial impact when he came on. 5/10
Victor Eletu: The promising midfielder finally made his debut for Nigeria but couldn't show off his quality as expected. 5/10
Rilwanu Sarki: He was lively and a threat when he came on and could have gotten a goal from a solo effort. His performance will cause Bosso a selection headache heading to the game against Italy on Wednesday. 7/10
