Osimhen joins Inter Milan and Real Madrid stars, 5 others in UCL Team of the Week
Published: February 23, 2023Victor Osimhen has been named in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Week by football statistics website Whoscored.com after his impressive display for Napoli in a round of 16, first leg clash against Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday night.
In the 40th minute, the Nigeria international bundled the ball into the net at the far post to open the scoring, which took his scoring run to six consecutive matches in all competitions.
Six minutes before he broke the deadlock, Osimhen won a penalty for The Blues but Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's kick was saved by Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.
The Champions League Team of the Week is dominated by Napoli and Real Madrid players, with the Italian and Spanish clubs contributing four players each, while Eintracht Frankfurt, Inter Milan and RB Leipzig have one player each.
Trapp starts in goal with a back four of Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Éder Militão, Kim Min-jae and Marcel Halstenberg, while the four-man midfield consists of Hirving Lozano, Luka Modrić, Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Vinícius Júnior.
Joining Osimhen in attack is Real Madrid superstar Karim Benzema, who was involved in three goals (2 goals, 1 assist) in Los Blancos' 5-2 rout of Liverpool at Anfield.
The Napoli number 9 registered three shots against Eintracht Frankfurt with two on target, completed one take-on, won two fouls for his team, made two clearances and was accurate in 33.3 percent of his passes.
