'Brilliant goalscoring record' - Lagos-born ex-Chelsea striker hails Osimhen for stunning form
Published: February 22, 2023Lagos-born ex-Chelsea Women striker Eniola Aluko has underlined that Victor Osimhen is in sensational goalscoring form at the moment.
The Nigeria international had netted in five consecutive matches in the Italian top flight before Napoli's trip to Germany for their Champions League clash against Europa League holders Eintracht Frankfurt.
And the Napoli number 9 continued his rich vein of form by opening the scoring against the German Bundesliga side.
Five minutes to the end of the first half, Osimhen turned in a brilliant pass from Lozano to break the deadlock, taking his tally for the season to 20 goals in 24 matches across all competitions.
The 24-year-old won a penalty in the 34th minute when he was fouled inside the box by Aurelio Buta, but Kvaratskhelia failed to convert from the spot.
Reacting to Napoli's opener, Aluko said on BT Sport : "You see straightaway as soon as they win the ball back, they are direct. You see Osimhen really attacks the box, gets into the box ahead of the defenders.
"Hirving Lozano great ball, inch perfect ball and a good striker's finish. Osimhen is on fire.
"Everything he touches is going in, 20th goal of the season. Brilliant goalscoring record so far this season."
Osimhen's other goal in this season's Champions League came against Ajax Amsterdam on matchday four in the group stage.
