Red-hot striker Okoronkwo scores fourth goal in six matches for Everton U21
Published: February 09, 2023
Francis Okoronkwo continued his rich vein of form by getting on the scoresheet for Everton's development squad in their 2-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb in a Premier League International Cup clash staged at Walton Hall Park on Wednesday night.
The skillful attacker had impressed for the Toffees heading into the fixture against Dinamo Zagreb, scoring against Blackburn Rovers, Southampton and Bristol City - three goals in five appearances.
After a goalless first half, the Anglo-Nigerian broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute when he slotted past the goalkeeper after the ball was drilled across goal.
Two minutes after Okoronkwo found the net, Dinamo defender Gurlica was booked for dragging him back near the halfway line.
Midway through the second half, the 18-year-old rounded the goalkeeper but couldn't find a teammate before the ball was cleared out of danger.
In the 72nd minute, Katia Kouyate, who replaced Okoronkwo, doubled the advantage seconds after his introduction.
Born in Blyth, Okoronkwo joined the Toffees from Sunderland in September 2021.
