'Fake news' - Bona fide agent dismisses rumours on international future of Arsenal loanee Balogun
Published: February 03, 2023
Folarin Balogun's bona fide agent has dismissed viral reports in the local media on the international future of the Arsenal-owned striker.
Born in New York, the Hale End Academy graduate qualifies to play international football for the United States, Nigeria and England.
However, he is provisionally cap-tied to England, after representing the Young Lions at the 2018 European U17 Championship, and previously wore the colours of the United States U18 side.
It was sensationally claimed that the chances of luring the red-hot Stade de Reims striker to the Super Eagles were slim despite the striker proclaiming that he was open to representing the three-time African champions in an interview with the BBC in October.
When contacted to verify the claim, Elite Project Group Limited, Balogun's bona fide representative, quickly poured cold water on the reports, saying the agency has not granted any interview to the Nigerian media.
"Absolutely not, I did not speak to anyone on Balogun. It is fake news,'' an Elite Project Group Limited higher-up told allnigeriasoccer.com.
Although Elite Project Group's flagship client Bukayo Saka plays for England, the likes of Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina, Joe Aribo and Josh Maja who are all on the agency's books chose to play for Nigeria over the Three Lions.
