Lookman proves he's one of the best in Serie A, equals record held by 3 Danish strikers
Published: January 23, 2023Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman proved once again that he is one of the best players in the Italian Serie A after scoring two goals in Atalanta's 3-3 draw with Juventus at the Allianz Stadium in Turin on Sunday night.
The Charlton Athletic academy product scored a brace for the third match on the bounce in one of the games of the season.
Lookman's scoring run continued inside five minutes, breaking the deadlock with a powerful right-footed shot that goalkeeper
Wojciech Szczesny let slip through his hands and into the net.
After Juventus duo Ángel Di María and Arkadiusz Milik scored to make it 2-1, the Nigeria international provided the assist for Atalanta's equalizer with only 30 seconds gone in the second half.
In the 53rd minute, Lookman was on hand to head home a cross from Jérémie Boga but Danilo drilled in a free-kick in the 65th minute to salvage a point for Juventus.
According to football statisticians OPTA, Lookman is the fourth Atalanta player to score ten goals or more after nineteen matches in his maiden season in the Serie A, following in the footsteps of three Danish strikers Jørgen Leschly Sørensen (1949-1950), Karl Aage Hansen (1949-1950) and Poul Rasmussen (1952-1953).
Only Napoli star Victor Osimhen (13) has scored more goals than Lookman (11) in the Italian topflight this season.
