Free of charge : 5 out-of-favour Super Eagles players up for grabs in the January transfer window
Published: January 09, 2023
The time is ticking fast and the countdown to the close of the January transfer window is already approaching.
There are deals that have taken place and others we all expect to be be finalized in the window.
Some in the category of the latter include Nigerian players who are free agents and need to sign for new clubs this month.
All Nigeria Soccer presents five of those on the lookout for new homes.
1. Ogenyi Onazi
Former Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi is heavily linked with a return to Asia after ending his association with Italian Serie D club Casertana.
Now a free agent, Onazi was recently spotted training with Nigerian topflight club Remo Stars.
On his curriculum vitae, he has turned out for Trabzonspor, Denizlispor, SönderjyskE and Zalgiris in the past.
2. Shehu Abdullahi
Super Eagles right back, Shehu Abdullahi is on the lookout for a new club after the termination of his contract with Bulgarian outfit Levski Sofia by mutual consent.
Abdullahi and a couple of Nigerian players in his right back position, namely Tyrone Ebuehi, Chidozie Awaziem and Ola Aina have noticeably been nomadic on their club careers across Europe.
3. Ramon Azeez
Former youth international, Ramon Azeez is looking for new club after his last contract with Granada.
There has not been any takers for 'Shanko' since he last played for the Spanish side.
4. Daniel Akpeyi
The goalkeeping department of the Super Eagles needs more competition and Daniel Akpeyi will be hard pressed to find a new club in the January transfer window or perhaps in the summer.
5. Aminu Umar
2016 Olympics bronze medalist Aminu Umar, last played for Turkish side Rizespor but is currently on the lookout for another club.
The former Flying Eagles star has plenty of speed and trickery and could appeal to clubs in Turkey who are in the know of his attributes.
