Confirmed : West Ham recall talented striker of Nigerian descent from loan spell
Published: January 06, 2023With a statement on their official website, West Ham United have confirmed that talented striker Armstrong Okoflex has been recalled from his loan spell at Championship club Swansea City.
The Republic of Ireland youth international of Nigerian descent was supposed to spend the entirety of the season at the Welsh club but the Hammers have decided to end the loan early.
Okoflex found game time hard to come by at Swansea City, making only one start from a possible 20 in the Championship after joining the club at the end of August.
Overall, he played in thirteen matches, with twelve of them as a substitute, and was in action for 287 minutes.
Okoflex is the third West Ham academy player to return from loan spells this week, following in the footsteps of Dan Chesters and Thierry Nevers, who represented Colchester United and Newport County respectively in the first half of the season.
The Dublin native started his youth career in the Republic of Ireland and had stops at Arsenal and Celtic before switching to West Ham in the summer of 2021.
The 20-year-old made his senior debut for West Ham in a UEFA Conference League play-off match against Viborg in August 2022.
