Three former Super Eagles strikers of the 90s that fit into current Chelsea setup

Chelsea are said to be on the lookout for a new striker following the injury to Armando Broja on Sunday. It is also unclear what the future holds for on-loan Romelu Lukaku.

In this piece, allnigeriasoccer.com goes back memory lane to look at Super Eagles stars of yesteryear that could have been what the current Chelsea Football Club need.

1. Rashidi Yekini

The late 'Goalsfather' was the CAF African Footballer of the Year in 1993. He was top scorer during the qualifiers to the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the USA.

Yekini was also top scorer at the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia with five goals while he scored that memorable Nigeria's first FIFA World Cup.

Yekini was a prolific goal scorer and his goals for Vitoria Setubal and Nigeria shows that he (posthumously) would have been what Chelsea need to strike fears into defenders and almost guarantee a return to title-winning days soon.

2. Daniel Amokachi

Power-playing Daniel Amokachi was Yekini's teammate in the Super Eagles back in the 90s.

Amokachi played either as a support striker or the player given the freedom to play in any of the positions upfront.

Samson Siasia played more often as Yekini's foil but Amokachi was a player that reminds one of the likes of Didier Drogba, Hernan Crespo and Radamel Falcao.

3. John Zaki

Back in the late 80s and early 90s, Nigeria league side BCC Lions of Gboko had a certain John Zaki on their team.

Zaki was similar to Amokachi in size and style. He scored goals at will and was a great hitter of the ball from distance.

Zaki was part of the 1991 All Africa Games football tournament in Cairo, Egypt where Nigeria won the bronze medal in the football event of the 'African Olympics'.

Zaki was a player in the mould of a younger Romelu Lukaku.
