Super Eagles-eligible CM takes part in Chelsea's final training session pre-Aston Villa
Published: December 11, 2022Super Eagles-eligible central midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka is seemingly in contention to be included in Chelsea's matchday squad for the mid-season friendly against Aston Villa at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Sunday afternoon.
A Chelsea picture gallery on the club's official website confirms that the England U20 international of Nigerian descent took part in the final training session on Saturday afternoon under the guidance of manager Graham Potter.
It remains to be seen whether Chukwuemeka will be handed playing time against Aston Villa.
The talented youngster has not figured for the Chelsea teams in a competitive game since playing the last eleven minutes against Manchester United in the Premier League on October 22.
Chukwuemeka had been recovering from a hamstring problem that saw him miss five matches in all competitions.
The plan is for the 19-year-old to be in tiptop condition before Chelsea's first game after the World Cup break, against Bournemouth on December 27, 2022.
Chelsea and Aston Villa are competing for the inaugural CBF | Al Wahda Challenge Cup, and the game will kickoff 1510 hours Nigerian time.
