Nigerian midfielder celebrates new deal with game-winning goal for AC Milan first team
Published: December 09, 2022Nigerian-born striker Victor Eletu celebrated his new deal by netting the match-winning goal for AC Milan's first team as they defeated Serie D table toppers Lumezzane 3-2 in a mid-season friendly on Thursday.
AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli was without several of his first teamers who represented their respective nations in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup so handed call-ups to some outstanding Primavera players including Eletu.
A defensive midfielder by trade, Eletu signed his first professional contract with AC Milan this week, a deal that will keep him at the Rossoneri until at least the end of the 2024-2025 season.
The 2005-born player joined AC Milan's youth team in the summer of 2022 after he was poached from Cedratese, a team from Varese.
Eleven minutes after coming off the bench against Lumezzane, Eletu controlled the ball in the box and slotted past goalkeeper Pisoni to make it 3-2 in the 78th minute.
The Nigerian has appeared in seventeen official matches for AC Milan's youth teams this season, including four in the UEFA Youth League.
At the weekend, AC Milan will travel to the United Arab Emirates where they will participate in the Dubai Super Cup with matches against Arsenal (December 13) and Liverpool (December 16) on the agenda.
