Super Eagles-eligible midfielder back in training with Chelsea after hamstring injury
Published: December 06, 2022Super Eagles-eligible midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka is back in training with Chelsea's first team after recovering from a hamstring injury.
The England U20 international of Nigerian descent has not figured for the Blues in a competitive game since coming off the bench for the last eleven minutes of a Premier League game against Manchester United on October 22.
Manager Graham Potter named Chukwuemeka in the squad for a warm weather training camp in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The 19-year-old was among the players involved in strengthening work during the gym session at The Ritz Carlton on Monday. and was back on the grass for fitness and ball work later in the day under the watchful eye of Potter.
The Anglo-Nigerian posted on social media that he was delighted that to be back on the pitch on the first day of Chelsea's training in Abu Dhabi.
Having spent approximately six weeks on the sidelines, Chukwuemeka will be hoping to return to match fitness before the Premier League restart
Chelsea will face Aston Villa in a friendly on Sunday, December 11 at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
