Ex-Fiorentina star reveals preferred striker between Osimhen and Chelsea loanee Lukaku
Published: December 03, 2022Former Fiorentina and Sampdoria star Carmine Esposito believes Victor Osimhen is a better striker than Chelsea-owned player Romelu Lukaku who is spending the entirety of this season on loan at Inter Milan.
The Nigeria national teamer was in red hot form before the World Cup break, mustering ten goals in all competitions so far this season whereas Lukaku has seen his campaign blighted by injuries, with the Belgium star netting only two goals in five appearances.
Osimhen's form has helped Napoli win their last six matches in the Italian top-flight, scoring or assisting in each of the games.
In the opinion of Esposito, he would take Osimhen over Lukaku and highlighted that the Nigerian has become a very influential player for Napoli.
When asked to choose between Osimhen and Lukaku, Esposito told Radio Punto Nuovo, via Area Napoli : "I have no doubts: always Osimhen...
"Lukaku has been squeezed a lot by now and is in a tired phase, but Osimhen is currently the top in Italy and in Europe.
"Luciano is a master in making his forwards grow and exalt , then Osimhen is becoming a leader of this team."
There has been talk that Osimhen could be moving on to pastures new next summer, with Manchester United and Chelsea credited with an interest in the 23-year-old.
