With a post on social media, Fenerbahce wingback Bright Osayi-Samuel has reacted to making his senior debut for Nigeria against Portugal.
The Blackpool academy product was named in the starting lineup as the Super Eagles were beaten 4-0 by the World Cup-bound European nation in an international friendly staged at the Estádio José Alvalade XXI on Thursday night.
Overall, Osayi-Samuel was outstanding and the only blot on his copybook was giving away a penalty which was converted by Bruno Fernandes in the 35th minute.
Bernardo Silva sent the ball into the box and it bounced off the trailing arm of the Super Eagles right-back.
With eleven minutes remaining, the versatile defender later made amends by winning a penalty which was missed by Emmanuel Dennis.
Although, Osayi-Samuel would be disappointed that the result was not in favour of the Super Eagles, it was a proud moment for the Okija-born player to play his first international match for Nigeria.
Writing on Twitter, the 24-year-old Osayi-Samuel said : "Honored to represent my country"
Having committed his international future to Nigeria over England, Osayi-Samuel's next target is to play a cap-tying game for the the Super Eagles in 2023.
