Celtic's Anglo-Nigerian starlet in demand ahead of January transfer window
Published: November 18, 2022Glasgow Celtic's Anglo-Nigerian goalkeeper Tobi Oluwayemi is being linked with a loan move ahead of the reopening of the transfer window in January 2023.
The England youth international has caught the eye in the UEFA Youth League and Lowland League this season, and has been identified as a future first team goalkeeper at Celtic on the back of those impressive performances.
According to The Scottish Sun, a plethora of clubs, including teams based in Scotland and England, have made enquires over the availability of Oluwayemi with a view to signing him on loan for the second half of the 2022-2023 campaign
Celtic are prepared to loan out the promising goalkeeper as he will likely get a taste of first team football.
Hoops' Australian boss Ange Postecoglou rates him highly, having invited the 19-year-old to train with the first team during pre-season preparations and named him in the matchday squad for Europa League and Conference League matches last season.
Tobi is the younger brother of 2021 Super Eagles invitee Joshua Oluwayemi and both were together at the Tottenham Hotspur Academy before moving on to pastures new.
The 2003-born Tobi is age-eligible to represent 2017 world champions England at next year's FIFA U20 World Cup.
