Second oldest average starting XI named by Peseiro and 7 other things to note on starters v Portugal

Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro has announced his starting lineup for Thursday evening's international friendly against World Cup-bound Portugal.

1) The eleven players selected in the starting lineup have an average age of 25.27 years, with William Troost-Ekong the oldest at 29 years and 77 days and Bassey the youngest at 22 years and 321 days.
2) This is the second oldest average starting lineup named by Pesiero since he took over as coach. He fielded his youngest starting lineup with an average age of 24.64 years against São Tomé and Príncipe and oldest against Mexico (25.36 years).
3) Two players are aged 23 and younger : Terem Moffi and Calvin Bassey.
4) After passing a late fitness test, Ajax Amsterdam defender Bassey starts his seventh consecutive game for the Super Eagles.
5) Peseiro has made four changes to the team that started against Algeria, bringing in Osayi-Samuel, Ndidi, Aribo and Troost-Ekong.
6) Troost-Ekong and Akpoguma are paired together in central defence from the off for the first time in their national team careers.
7) Nantes winger Moses Simon has been involved in the last twenty matches played by the Super Eagles - the only player in the squad to do so.
8) Southampton star Joe Aribo has never played as a substitute for the Super Eagles. He makes his 21st start against the Portuguese.
