'He was unplayable at times' - Arsenal legend hails Anglo-Nigerian for brilliant display v Man Utd Youth

Arsenal legend Jack Wilshere, who now coaches the club's U18 team, on Saturday praised the performance of Ethan Nwaneri in the young Gunners' 3-3 draw with Manchester United in the U18 Premier League Cup.

The Anglo-Nigerian scored a brace in a promising outing that could potentially see him get some look-in for the Gunners Carabao Cup commitment next midweek.

Wilshere spoke to Arsenal's website on Nwaneri who went off injured in the closing minutes of the game.

"In the first half he tried to find the spaces, playing in people's backs and creating space for himself, and we couldn't find him a little bit," the former England midfielder told Arsenal.com.

"In the second half he was very good, he was unplayable at times. He had a few good moments. In the second half a lot of players stepped up a level, we found some more space.

Wilshere added that the team talk at half time helped see a better second half but did not give much thoughts on the injury sustained by the youngster.

"We spoke to them a little bit at halftime about few tactical things which allowed Ethan to free up. We had a really good balance in the team and Ethan was good in the second half."

The record appearance holder in the English topflight has been churning out impressive outings for the Gunners which has attracted the attention of some accomplished past and present players.
