Arteta runs the rule over Anglo-Nigerian CB final training session pre-Chelsea
Published: November 05, 2022Arsenal have completed their final training session ahead of their Premier League clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge (1300 hours Nigerian time on Sunday, November 6).
Anglo-Nigerian central defender Zach Awe could be in contention to feature in the London derby, in theory, as he was promoted to first team training by manager Mikel Arteta on Saturday.
The Spanish football tactician ran the rule over Awe and other promising youngsters such as Lino Sousa, Jack Henry-Francis, Matt Smith and Taylor Foran in the final workout at London Colney.
Awe also trained with Arsenal's first team before the visit of FC Zurich but was omitted from the matchday squad.
The 18-year-old has established himself as an ever-present starter for the Gunners development squad in 2022-2023, making ten appearances in the Premier League 2.
And he has been a key pillar in defence for the Arsenal U21s, helping them remain unbeaten in the league since the start of the season.
Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka is struggling with a hamstring issue and has been ruled out of tomorrow afternoon's game.
