Arsenal's Nigeria-eligible midfielder scores again for England Youth
Published: October 29, 2022
Ethan Nwaneri helped England progress to the Elite Round of the 2023 UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifiers by getting on the scoresheet as the 2017 world champions thrashed Georgia 6-2 at the GFF Rustavi Academy-Rustavi on Friday, October 28.
Nwaneri became provisionally cap-tied to England when he came off the bench in their opening game of the qualifying round, a 3-1 win over Lithuania on Tuesday.
The Arsenal attacking midfielder capped off his competitive debut for England's youth teams with a goal in the 81st minute.
The Premier League's youngest player in history followed that up with another strike against Georgia, nine minutes into the contest.
Nwaneri made it 2-1 with a brilliant left-footed strike into the bottom corner after some excellent combination play with Arsenal teammate Myles Lewis-Skelly.
England will seal top spot in Group 3 of the U17 Euro qualifiers if they avoid defeat against Israel in Monday's meeting at the Tbilisi Sea Technical Center Stadium.
Nwaneri remains eligible to play for the Super Eagles until he makes his competitive debut for the Three Lions.
