Nigeria manager Peseiro sweating on fitness of Torino defender ahead of November friendlies
Published: October 27, 2022
Nigeria manager Jose Peseiro is sweating on the fitness of Torino defender Ola Aina ahead of the national team's friendly matches against Costa Rica and Portugal in November.
Torino informed through their official website on Wednesday that the Nigeria national teamer did not complete training yesterday due to injury.
The initial diagnosis of his injury is a 'distractive involvement at the level of the left hamstring', and he will undergo more detailed tests in the coming days to determine the seriousness of the injury.
Torino have not provided a timeframe for Aina's return to training but it is looking likely that the versatile wing-back will not be available for the home game against AC Milan this coming weekend.
The Chelsea academy product ended his goal drought for the Maroons when he opened the scoring in a 2-1 victory over Udinese last weekend.
Aina has been a key player under Peseiro, starting the Super Eagles last three matches, including last month's friendly against Algeria, and is guaranteed a spot on the Nigeria roster for their matches next month if in good physical condition.
Three-time African champions Nigeria will battle Costa Rica at the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica (San José) on November 10, before facing another World Cup bound team Portugal a week later.
