Crystal Palace star Zaha reveals his advice to two former Super Eagles invitees
Published: October 22, 2022Crystal Palace's Ivory Coast international Wilfried Zaha has shared the advice he gave to two former Super Eagles invitees in the shape of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise regarding efficiency on the pitch.
Zaha has been in scintillating form this season for The Eagles, scoring five goals in nine appearances in the Premier League, with Eze providing the assist for his strike in a 1-1 draw versus Liverpool at Anfield.
Both Eze and Olise are skillful attacking midfielders and wingers capable of wreaking havoc to opposition defences in the final third of the pitch.
What makes Eze, Olise and Zaha standout is that they are good dribblers, but the Ivorian has warned his younger teammates against showboating.
In quotes relayed by Crystal Palace's official webpage, Zaha explained: "When I talk to the youngsters like [Ebere] Eze and Michael [Olise], as soon as we get on the pitch I’m like: ‘Efficiency is all we need.’ Nothing else, everything else doesn’t matter."
"When I step on the pitch, my mindset is efficiency. When I dribble I only dribble when I have to and get my shot off."
Eze has managed 2.5 dribbles per game in the new season, while Olise has averaged 1.1 dribbles per game. The two players have made 1.6 key passes each.
Everton travel to Goodison Park to take on Alex Iwobi's Everton on Saturday, October 22.
